Yummy Caramel Crunch Bars

Caramel is one of my favorite indulgences, and since keto caramel really isn't great for you like some dark chocolate desserts can be, I don't indulge as often as I'd like. When I saw this recipe for caramel crunch bars I was seriously tempted to make it, especially since some of the ingredients could be swapped for keto ones. When it comes to yummy treats, I often just go for the sweet over the keto and just cut the portion size anyway.

To Bra Or Not To Bra

This question isn't about whether or not you care if someone else is wearing a bra because, quite frankly, that's nobody's business but their own. It might be the business between them and a parent, if the parent has to make the purchases, but even then it's a pretty personal choice. No, this question is about you and what you prefer, especially now that it's summertime.

The Power Of Positive Thinking

Positive thinking is all the rage right now, especially with people believing in the Law of Attraction, and while I think that it's generally a good idea, I've also seen some harm come out of it when people refuse to think of anything except positivity. They seem to lack empathy for others when they do this, and I've seen too many people ignore actual real problems that they could help with, particularly in our government, by just leaving things to "god's hands." I think a healthy dose of action, and some compassion, go well with positive thinking.

Which Hogwarts Houses Would Family Guy Characters Belong To?

Sorting favorite characters into their Hogwarts Houses has become something of a cultural phenomenon, and it's fun to speculate about which of our fandoms has the most Gryffindors, Ravenclaws, Hufflepuffs or Slytherins. Many even combine multiple houses, sorting their favorites into Gryffinpuffs or Raverins.

Rainbows Of Hummingbirds

Have you ever heard of a black Jacobian hummingbird? The species has an impressive feature that renders its wings a kalaidescope of color, as you can see in the photos here, and it's so pretty that it's breathtaking. There's an entire rainbow in the bird's wingspan, making us believe there's really magic in the world. Who needs rainbow unicorn colors when this incredible creature exists?

Old CD Crafts

It still boggles my mind how outdated so many forms of tech have become in just a decade or two. Looking at floppy discs and CDs, I can imagine how people felt when 8-tracks went out of style. The cool thing about old CDs is that you can often use them for craft projects, which is more than I can say about floppies (although I did hear of people using them as coasters...).

Favorite Succulents

Why do succulents make our hearts sing so much? For me, I know there's definitely a connection to my grandmother, who was my best friend for many years. She's been gone for almost a decade and a half but I bought her old house and always try to have a few to honor her, since she always had succulents. She did a much better job at maintaining her gardens than I do, though!

Best Bars Of Seattle

When it comes to what makes the best bar, everyone seems to have different criteria. Some people love it loud and exciting; I love cozy pubs with a more casual, quiet tone, myself. Some people love drink specials while others are all about the snacks or appetizers. Atmosphere is a big deal to me, and if I don't like the seating or sound of a place I usually don't return. There's a place nearby that serves some of the best drinks I've ever had, for example, but the music is so loud--it's like going to a disco!--that I just don't go there anymore.

Have You Heard Of The Frog Ranch?

When you think of a ranch, you usually picture cattle, horses and maybe sheep--at least, that's what I picture when I hear the word. How many of us think of frogs, though? An actual frog ranch exists. Its operators raise frogs to sell to universities, labs, hospitals and other medical facilities that test on the animals, selling them for research purposes.

Your Favorite Tandoori Recipes

Indian cuisine is on my brain today, and I'm so excited about this recipe for Tandoori Chicken over at Wellness Mama. I always assumed that it was a complicated dish that requires very specific equipment to make, but this recipe calls for an outdoor grill to make it with, which is perfect for this time of year. It also requires marinating overnight, so alas, I won't be eating it today!

This Dalmatian Will Have You Seeing Hearts

Looking at animals with unusual markings, color variations and other unique features is so much fun. I love seeing cats with colors with split faces, cute designs on pet fur courtesy of nature alone and other fun variations. I even love dew claws, so long as they don't get in your pet's way; one of my dogs has them and removal would be dangerous for her, but luckily they don't hinder her at all and I think they are cute!

Poetry Podcasts

Last week, we discussed the many possibilities when it comes to poetry blogs, which ones to follow and which ones you like best. The Internet has certainly opened up new doorways from which we can share so much more poetry and ideas around the world, so I thought this week we could discuss the various poetry podcasts that are available for our listening pleasure.

Getting Rid Of Pot Convictions

It never ceases to amaze me how the government is legally able to repress and ruin lives every day. From allowing citizens to die without healthcare, to outlawing abortion, legalizing discrimination against LGBTQ people, sanctioned state violence and, yes, our for-profit prison system, we are far from the land of the free that so many like to think we are. That doesn't mean we should "love it or leave it," as some would scorn, but that we need to keep working towards a better tomorrow by combatting these issues, just like our ancestors did for us.
